Volume V, Issue 11-12
Author: Sudha Prabhu
Editor’s Note: Sudha Prabhu pens an inspiring poem expressing the deepest human aspiration — namely, to experience the liberation that is the soul’s essential nature. Is there a companion on this inner journey? What does it mean to accept or reject parts of one’s nature as one walks the path? Or is embracing all that is emerging in continuation the way to go? Read and contemplate. The artwork featured here is also by the poet herself.
The Companion Speak
With leaf as my companion
A space of pure and clear connection
Continued in the unsaid a beautiful communion
Exchange of heart felt thoughts for reflection
Opening into the invisible a subtle collaboration
A clearing of lifetime’s confusion
Glimpses of the yonder a sacred celebration
The lips offered a prayer fervent
For the Grace in her fullness to descent
In her fold may every barrier melt to a percent
Even the bonded and blinded to ascent
Her knowing for each what’s best for inner growth and development
Navigating the inconvenience and inconsistency seeks a disciplined investment
Of the dissonances and disturbances within, one increasingly coherent
Weaving the many moving pieces with an awakened awareness, quite an achievement
Of the cosmic workings for highest best, to trust one adept and competent.
How did the leaf retain this simple realisation
Than humans, endowed inherently the capacity for actualization
A comedy of errors it seems in the actual distribution
Life on a trajectory, steep and slippery, needs a steady and strong determination
Unattached to outcomes pre-mediated attention
A focused inner meditative state aids the execution.
Lores of the rich tapestry, reminder of a true legacy inherent
A compass to guide and bring to shore confident
Nature embraces this wisdom unquestionably as living commandment
Grateful and graceful under all-weather, a rejoicing fulfillment
In the short presence, fully giving to the commitment
At this knowing she smiled in an enigmatic acknowledgement
Closing in on me with a sweet endearment
She impressed with a full heart what was hers, at the end her only endowment.
Cut all strivings, embark for true liberation
To understand this world or man, beyond one’s comprehension
Your own path of clearing, an inner realisation
The enduring markings of true renunciation
The efforts for oneself redeeming, no judging or condemnation
To the other, there is no pitting against or comparison
Fall or raise, continue moving the only contribution
Accept or reject not one’s nature, embrace the emergence in continuation
Threaded genuinely and sincerely, hope a living appreciation
In this endeavour you are your only loving, lasting companion.
